Introduction

Orientation is an opportunity for new graduate students and postdocs to become acquainted with the Homewood campus, services and policies, departments and colleagues. Prior to the start of the fall semester, graduate students are expected to attend both departmental and division-wide orientations.

Shannon O’Connor, ‘09
Charles R. Westgate Scholar Shannon O’Connor is in her second year in the Whiting School’s Biomedical Engineering program. Shannon is currently in Dr. Kalina Hristova’s material science lab working on membrane proteins, specifically on Western Blot Analysis. “It’s a way to quantify proteins based on their activation and existence.” Apart from her individual research, Shannon also leads a design team on engineering an aerosol tuberculosis detector.
